Which version of Exchange?
If Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 then you can do recipient filtering.
You need to enable tar pit as well.

For other versions or where Exchange is not your primary receiver of
SMTP traffic then you need to use a product that has LDAP lookup. I
believe GFI Mail essentials does, as does Vamsoft ORF, there will be
others.

Subject: [ExchangeList] SMTP - Blocking messages where the the recipient
does not exist in the GAL.

Is there anyway to accomplish the above at the firewall - we are using
ISA? We are receiving ton of messages with anything left of the @.

Some of the recipients:

jkyxpzbjzqkli@xxxxxxxxx

lggxxtpghdx@xxxxxxxxx

jxbhwutklun@xxxxxxxxx

Is there a way to extend Recipient Filtering to the firewall?

TIA
