Yes. I am afraid you are. I have be bitten by this one too if its any
consolation. You MUST change the alias\name on the Exchange General tab in AD
Users and Computers too or the SMTP address will just keep reverting back.

Hi everyone
i am having a problem on an EXchange 2000 server-i need to change someone's
email address from elaine@xxxxxxx to elainesmith@xxxxxxx due to spam. my
problem is that even though i set up the address in the users properties and
set the new address as the Primary one-it reverts back to the address in the
form of the login@xxxxxxx . does anyone know what im doing wrong?
