Please help me sort this out-(mail is delaying)

Hallo there,when I send mail on my desktop,it takes quite a while in

the

outbox before it eventually gets sent and also,when mail arrives on 

the

server,it gets distributed but doesnt come into my inbox for an 

unusually

long time.

Im running exchange 5.5 on an NT4.0 server

Any ideas
