Melvin, why don't you just create another mailbox and share amongst the
accounting dept.

Not trying to tell you how to run your company, but just thought I would
suggest it.

yes. cause the smtp serve/client need to know the mail server which
responsible for accounting.mycompany.com.
For exchange server itself, it can handle for multiple domain with
single mail server.

Subject: [exchangelist] MX record

http://www.MSExchange.org/

Good Morning All,
Currently our company has a public domain name (ex. mycompany.com)
hosted
by our ISP. There's also an MX record (mycompany.com) created on the
ISP
DNS. We're running our own smtp mail (user@xxxxxxxxxxxxx). Users can
send/receive their internal/external mails fine.
I'm planning to set up a new mail system for accounting dept users.
i.e.
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do I have to call my ISP to create a new
MX record for accounting.mycompany.com so the accounting users can
send/receive internet mails. Can I get away the new MX record. What's my
option? Pleas advise.
Thanks a bunch,
Melvin Chao
