Michael,

Is that all it needs....contact w/ a Global Catalog server? So, then it
would be OK if I configure the second DC to also be a Global Catalog
server...correct?

Thanks.

In a word: no.

Exchange requires a GC. If it can't find one, it'll basically hang. For
a technical description of what happens, see the "Exchange Technical
Reference Guide", I think around page 49 or 50.

Hi All,

I just built another Domain Controller in our network. What I want to
know is, once replication of AD data is completed...can the Exchange
server communicate w/ the new DC if I shutdown the original without
transferring any of the AD roles or making the new DC a Global Catalog
server....

Thanks,
chris
