Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 In-Place Upgrade is not possible. (unless you use Exchange 2k as a stepping stone, we’ve got new hardware, and I believe this is the recommended approach) We’ve installed our Active Directory Connector on a Domain Controller, setup Connection Agreements between 5.5 Directory and Site Replicator Service on First Exchange 2003 server, we then have two front-end Exchange 2003 Servers, and three clustered pairs which act as Back-Ends. Users that have their mailboxes on the Single 5.5 server are working normally, but as soon as we migrate/move their mailbox to a 2003 back-end server, when they select To: in Microsoft Outlook 2000 The error Global Address List Not Available appears, BookMark not Valid. Are you doing an in-place upgrade? _____ From: Andrew Hancock [mailto:Andrew.Hancock@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, January 02, 2006 12:17 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 Migration: Global Address List Not Available. http://www.MSExchange.org/ We have a complete copy of our infrastructure in our test lab, three DCs, single Exchange 5.5 server, and we have been completing a migration from Exchange 5.5 (single server, single organization) to Exchange 2003, everything appears okay, BUT users mailboxes that have been migrated from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 servers no longer have access to the Global Address List when using Outlook 2000 or Outlook XP client. Outlook Web Access and Outlook Mobile Access clients work correctly. We have checked MAPI, RPC communication, enabled diagnostic logging, checked the Global Catalog servers, checked the DCs, checked replication, but still cannot find a reason for why this is occurring? Could anyone else think of anything else we should check?
