Exchange 2000 and 5.5 Co-Existence

If I have one Domain on Exchange 2000 with AD (Single Forest) and another
Domain on Exchange 5.5 with NT 4.0, and these two domains do not trust
each other, can you use the Active Directory Connector? Also, this will
be a Single Exchange Organization for both above mentioned domains!
How will this work for directory sync's and message traffic flow?
