Event Sinks in Exchange 2003

Can someone point me in the right direction in finding resources related
to writing an event sink in Exchange 2003?  I have a  5.5 server that uses
the event service to fire off a vbs script that notifies users when a new
item is posted to a public folder.  I believe this was a script used from
cdolive.
