Everyone:
To all who have commented on this issue: I have called Blackberry Tier 3 today
to verify if Exchange Service Pack 2 needs to be installed on the Blackberry
Server. Based on the version of BES that I currently have (3.6.6.5), I do not
have to install SP2 on the BES. Version 3.6.6.5 also indicated that I have MS
Service Pack 1 installed on the BES. I verified this by checking the versions
of the mapi32.dll and cdo.dll on the BES (both versions matched). The BB Tech
recommended to reboot the BES after SP2 was applied to the Exchange server and
rebooted.
I would like to thank everyone for their help. Your information has helped
alot.

Research In Motion(r) currently does not support Service Pack 2 for
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 when it is applied on the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. This applies to all existing versions of BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. This Service Pack will be tested in a future release
vehicle for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.0 and later.
With respect to applying Service Pack 2 to a Microsoft Exchange Server
2003, Research In Motion is not aware of any limitations and as such
will support this configuration. Please note that this will require
BlackBerry Enterpriser Server 3.6 Service Pack 7 or BlackBerry
Enterprise Server 4.0 Service Pack 3. For more information see KB-04452.

About six months ago I installed SP2 on our Exchange 2k3 box with no
problems. I did NOT install anything on the separate BES box (W2k).
We're running BES v 3.6.2.14. I am, however, planning to upgrade the W2k
box (BES) to W2k3 soon. I'd be interested to know if you have any
issues...

Our network environment consists of an Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition
server on Windows 2003 Standard Edition OS. We have some Blackberry
users and are running Blackberry Enterprise Server Manager (version
3.6.6.5) on a different server. I would like to install service pack 2
for Exchange on the Exchange server and would like make sure I have
covered all basis:
1) I have all the required hotfixes installed on the Exchange server and
would like to backup the email using NTBackup prior to install. What
files should I backup (edb, stm, logs)? Do I have to stop the
information store when I do the backup? If anyone can send a link or
provide to-the-point information it would be very helpful.
2) Does the service pack also have to be installed on the Blackberry
Enterprie server? It is running the System Manager and Active Directory
for Users and Computers snap-in (it is member server). Service pack 1
for Exchange was not installed on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure this
upgrade goes as smooth as possible.
