Really? Failover, a.k.a High-availability (HA) is certainly possible in the Exchange architecture. Otherwise, what is the point of Exchange clustering? :) -----Original Message----- From: Lara, Greg [mailto:GLara@xxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, August 09, 2004 1:31 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup mail server (One domain, two mail s erve- rs) http://www.MSExchange.org/ Umar, I think what you're trying to accomplish, referred to as failover, isn't possible in a stock Exchange environment. There are third-party products that you could use to accomplish that. Check out Veritas (www.veritas.com), Neverfail (http://us.neverfailgroup.com), or just search on Google for exchange failover. I learnt that 2 MX records can exist one for each machine having exchange 2000 configured to receive email for the 2 domains. Both will have some cost issue involved which will set the priority. I got all that. What confused me now is that how will both the MAIL SERVERS replicate data amongst one another. Both should contain the same mailboxes right to be able to replace each other...plz drop in some ideas...
