SALE OF ALL THE CONTENTS OF MY OBSERVATORY
I signed on at Rancho Hidalgo (now known as Dark Sky New Mexico) on 23
April 2011. Bernard Miller was already there, and it was his presentation
at an East Valley Astronomy Club meeting that showed me how
remote-controlled astronomy could be done! Thanks Bernard! I have
immensely enjoyed setting up and operating my fully remote-controlled
observatory!
Gene and I placed a stake in the ground on 23 April 2011 showing where my
building would be built.
After completion of my building on 29 December 2011, I started moving in
all my equipment and then started operations.
This fulfilled a life-long dream of doing astronomy and I have really
enjoyed installing everything and doing totally automated astronomy. (I.e.,
create a small script and let ACP open the observatory roof, point the
scope, do autofocusing, take photos all night long, park the scope, close
the roof, and let me remotely image-process the results of the night’s work
in the morning after a good night’s sleep… 😊 I am a morning person! 😊)
It has been thrilling and I learned a lot and I will miss it, but I turn 80
next month and feel it is time for me to quit.
So, *I have attached a pdf file, AstroEqpt.pdf*, that lists all the
equipment in my observatory with a value assigned to each piece in
accordance with my internet research on the value of each of the items. In
addition there are recent photographs below, some taken by Dennis Recla,
some taken by me, that show the current setup and items in the observatory.
I am offering it ALL, as is, for $10,000 Or Best Offer. I do not want to
sell piecemeal… All or nothing please.
Suggestions:
1. You could buy it all and continue operations as-is and sell off
the pieces you do not wish to retain. I will provide a one-day tutorial on
how everything works. You would, in this case, sign a lease agreement with
Dark Sky New Mexico for use of the observatory.
2. You could buy it all, keep what you want, and sell off everything
else piecemeal. You would have to remove what you wish to keep and what
you wish to sell piecemeal from the observatory if you do not lease the
observatory from Dark Sky New Mexico. (Otherwise, it becomes “abandoned”
and owned by Dark Sky New Mexico according to the lease agreement.)

You can view the currently mounted telescopes and cameras during the day
(there is light leakage into the building) by viewing via the internal
cameras I have installed at: http://206.128.69.5:4004/
All the equipment is located inside my observatory at 30 Washburn Rd,
Animas, NM.
I can meet you there.
*I will continue this offer until 25 October 2022. If no one is interested
by that time I will pursue other options.*
