The East Valley Astronomy Club will conduct our *monthly general meeting
this Friday evening – February 21st.* The meeting will take place in the
usual location – the Shakespeare room at the Southeast Regional Library in
Gilbert, beginning at 7:30 pm. We have an exciting agenda this month,
featuring a silent auction, EVAC logoed clothing on display to order, and
another terrific speaker, Don Machholz who is a co-developer of the Messier
Marathon and a prolific comet finder who has a dozen to his credit. Our
meetings are always a great opportunity to connect with like-minded
colleagues, and to make some new friends and acquaintances.
This month's featured speaker has actually written the book on the Messier
Marathon. Don will be talking to us about the Messier Marathon just in time
to get our excitement up for the March All Arizona Messier Marathon. It

We are having a silent auction during the meeting (before the meeting and
during the break).

We will be taking orders for another round of EVAC logoed clothing. There
will be a variety of colors (even more than last month) and samples of all
sizes for members to try on to get the best fit. Prices will be similar to
last year. The order is expected to be placed a few days after the meeting,
and all orders are desired to be prepaid, so please bring cash, your
checkbook, or be able to use paypal. We will have a few extra item which
will be available for immediate purchase.
For those who ordered clothing, the orders are in. The colors are a little
jumbled, so we will have to sort that out. If you don't like the color they
thought you wanted, they will gladly redo your order.
After the meeting, attendees are invited to socialize at the Union Grill
and Tap located in the Northwest corner of Higley and Baseline - a mile
east and a mile north from our meeting location.

Our club is, of course, much more than just monthly meetings. Members can
take advantage of other opportunities to get involved in fun and gratifying
activities include volunteering at the observatory – GRCO, helping with our
public star parties, school outreach events, field trips, or discussion
