Hi Alissa,
We are using a text by UPP called Entry Point for a week 5th grade class.
it is very clear and simple. It has book 1 and book 2. In addition to the
book you will have to give them basic phonics instruction. a nice tool to
use is a spiral notebook that you use as a "flip book" for sounding out
words. slice the first section of pages into 3 sections, hold the notebook
with the spiral on top and mark the middle section with vowels and
consonants on the outer sections. Then you can flip through the different
letter sounds leaving the same vowel in the middle. It's a good hands on
activity for the children to make and use. It encourages them to practice
sounding out new words.
