[etni] use of definite article with 'practice'?

Greetings.
A friend asked me to clarify a question which I am unable to answer.
Is it acceptable to say "I'm going to the basketball practice at 19:00"?
(assuming said practice has NOT been previously referred to).
If it is not acceptable to use the definite article with 'practice', how does
'practice' differ from, say "lesson" or "recital" which could take a definite
article?
Thank you in advance,
Amy
