Good morning,
First and foremost, ask if they have read other stories by Mitch Albom,
especially Tuesdays with Morrie.
Pre-reading questions: What is the "Butterfly Effect"? Name 2 people who
have made a difference in your life? Who do you think you've affected by
your actions? In what way?
Divide the students into groups to review the history of Coney
Island/changes in amusement parks over time or Different customs of
weddings or POWs etc. One group for each period in the book.
When you finish the book, show the movie with Jon Voight (and impress them
that he's Angelina Jolie's father) - ask them to find the differences from
the novel. (Hint - Cause and Effect) What/Who caused the ride to stop
working if it was so well maintained by Eddy? It's such irony and the movie
skipped it.
