[etni] No Jobs in Haifa?

Dear all,
Is it true that there are no jobs for English teachers in Haifa?
Since May this year,I have been repeatedly told by the powers that be that
there is nothing available in Junior High or High schools in the Haifa area
except for 10 hours a week or covering for a 3 month period.
If this is the case I can not understand why the newspapers are always going
on about teacher shortages!
As a qualified native English speaker with 3 years experience I'm some what
surprised to find myself without a placement for this year.
If you know otherwise, I'd love to here from you.
