WIZ KIDS is proud to present its brand new "BRINGING LITERATURE TO LIFE"
WORKSHOP SERIES
PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP SERIES: Help teachers bring literature to life in the
classroom by introducing them to great new books that kids will love, reviewing
techniques for teaching literature, and providing them with lots of practical
suggestions and "how to" ideas that can be implemented easily.
SESSION #1- HOW TO TEACH A THEME BASED UNIT
This first offering is a two-part workshop on the "Journey" as a theme or
metaphor in Literature for Middle Schoolers. It will be presented by RITA
WISOTSKY, a highly experienced teacher from Silver Spring, Maryland and
well-known, successful facilitator of "Great Books Chugim" in Ra'anana.
Rita's workshop will be divided into 2 sessions. The first session will examine
literature for middle school students focusing on three novels and the Journey
motif, both as realism and as metaphor.
In the second session, concepts from the first will be applied as participants
read and analyze together the award winning novel, Walk Two Moons by Sharon
Creech.

20:00-21:30
