I would like to reply to some quetions that have arisen in the GISIG (Global 
Issues Special Interst Group) of IATEFL 
(International Association of Teachers of Enmglish as a Foreigh Language) 
discussion list.I would  be grateful for information on any or all of these 
questions. Approximate answers where there are no official ones would be 
helpful. 
1. How many  EFL teachers are there in Israel schools? (Jewish, Arab.)
2. How many Native Speaker EFL teachers are there in Israel schools?
3. How many Native speaker EFL teachers teach in Arab schools?
3. How many members in ETAI? 
4. What percentage of ETAI members are from the Arab community? 
5. Does anyone know if the Grammar Translation method is being taught anywhere 
in Israel? Details please.
6. How many schools teach translation (English-Hebrew or vice versa) as part of 
the Bagrut?
7. How many students are currently learning EFL at school?
8. What is the total school population, all sectors, a) primary and b) 
secondary?
9  Is there a break down of how many schools and in what grade EFL teaching 
begins in Jewish schools? (2004-5) 
10. When does EFL teaching begin in Arab schools?
