In Jerusalem, we were told to split the number of students proportionally so that each teacher submits grades on the 9450 form for only part of the class. For example, let's say we're talking about the four-point log - that's four stories and three poems. I'm going to assign a story twice the credit of a poem, but you might want to do otherwise - that's a school decision that has to be made. So for me it would be: 4 stories = 8 credits, 3 poems = 3 credits - total of 11. So let's say that in 10th grade they learned 1 story, in 11th grade they learned 1 story and 2 poems, and in 12th grade they learned 2 stories and 1 poem. There are 33 students in the class which means 33 divided by 11 = 3. 10th grade teacher - 1 story (2 credits) - total of 2 credits x3 students = she will report grading 6 logs 11th grade teacher - 1 story (2 credits) + 2 poems (2 credits) - total of 4 credits x3 students = she will report grading 12 logs 12th grade teacher - 2 stories (4 credits) + 1 poem (1 credit) - total of 5 credits x3 students = she will report grading 15 logs 6+12+15 = 33 students total, just divided into three 9450 forms Hope I didn't make this too complicated - obviously the math won't always work out perfectly, and of course you can't split a student into half for reporting / payment purposes, but overall I think that the idea is not too hard to implement in order to make payment as fair as possible. Note that I didn't take into account the work involved in assigning final grades to the log - you may want to assign that one or two credits as well. All the best, Rivka Hi. My question is a bit complicated, so bear with me. When it comes time to pay teachers for checking the logs, how does it work if the class had different teachers over the course of the years in which they learned the log. For example, if I taught 2 pieces in 10th grade and then the 11th grade teacher teaches 5 pieces, and the 12th grade teacher teaches 1 last piece, does the money get divided evenly? Who figures that out? Is it the individual teacher, the Misrad HaChinuch, or the school? The potential complication has led my school to keep teachers in the same class for 10th, 11th and 12th grades, which doesn't always work out so well. Now that we're discussing teachers' class assignments for next year, it's relevant to our conversation.
