I hate to cast a dark and ugly shadow on this discussion, but aren't the
teachers not supposed to be cooperating with the project until the unions
and ministry have ironed out the financial issues? And is this not a case of
adding injury to insult when one volunteers to do the HOTS even before the
required dates?
I am saddened to put it in these terms, but it reminds me very much of an
experience of a friend of mine. When asked by a manager what salary increase
he expected, he mentioned a very low figure, as a result of which his boss
told him to pack his bags and go. When asked why, he replied, "Only a person
who knows what he is worth is worth his salt."
Yes, the Finance Ministry seems to have been absolutely correct in not
giving the Irgun Teachers the increase some of them had asked for.
