Dear Walid and anyone else interested,

There are no guidelines (as far as I know) for putting together a language
lab, or as we call it in our school: an English Learning Center. The best
thing to do is to visit other schools who have learning centers, see what
they have done, and then - with your team, decide on the goals you have for
your center. Is it for the entire school population? Only for learners with
learning difficulties? For project work? Once you have done all that, you
can decide what you need to achieve those goals. After that, you might want
to go back to the other schools again.

On the new site for the Rural English Education Department (REED), we are
planning on having a corner to showcase different learning centers, as well
as websites and how they are used, and other special projects. For now,
there is only one school up there (Ma'ale Habsor) but you can go in and
visit us virtually. Hopefully, in a few weeks' time, we will have more
schools and explanations up there giving teachers like you ideas and
inspiration.

So - for those schools who have learning centers and are affiliated with the
REED framework, please send me photos and explanations
(adeler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) of how your centers are used. (There are more
explicit instructions on the site)

And for the rest of you- "pop in" and have a peek!
