[etni] A New Horizon (yeah, right)

Today as I was leaving one of the schools in which I teach,
I drove past a series of billboards. On every other
billboard there was a large poster proclaiming that the
Histadrut Hamorim and the Ministry of Education were
declaring "a New Horizon" for the Israeli educational system.
Actually, the Hebrew word for "Horizon" almost sounded like
the two English words that I uttered when I saw the posters
and realised that that was where the Ministry's budget had
gone. I mean, I thought that advertisements were meant to
persuade you to go for one product instead another. The
Ministry of Education has a monopoly, doesn't it?
Anyway, I began to feel a tad better when I saw that there
was an advertisement for toilet paper in between two of
the "New Horizon" posters. Just about sums up the situation
IMHO.
