Hi, ETNI'ers On Tuesday, March 15, Adi Orian wrote "... a good film to view, ..... is the new '2012'. It is scientifically valid ...." No, it is not scientifically valid, and it would be a disservice to students to show it to them with the teacher telling them that it is. (By the way, it is a 2009 film, which is not very "new", but that is irrelevant.) In fact, it would be a better exercise for students to have them figure out why the film is not scientifically valid, although that would better be done under the guidance of a science teacher, or at least an English teacher with a good scientific background. I have gotten in trouble on this list before for putting a post that was too detailed and not of general enough interest, so I will not put the details here, but stick to the point of general interest, a contradiction to Adi's claim. To find out details, a bit of googling and some calculations would be sufficient.
