 please distribute widely,
Dear members of the community,

THE STUDENT'S ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL is proud to present Environment Week
2003.

This is a momentous occasion as it is the first time in recent memory where
this week is happening on all three campuses simultaneously. This shows
that no matter where you?re from saving the Environment is a priority and of
grave importance. So come out and support the people that are working so
hard to create a more sustainable world. Here is a list of groups that have
done most of the work to make this week happen.

Breakdown - UTM

Erindale Environmental Association - UTM

Second Nature - UTSC

Hart House Social Justice - St. George

Environmental Students Union

Environmental Protection Advisory Committee.

Here is a listing of events are the University of Toronto at Scarborough

Expo (Mon 9AM ? 4PM, Venue: Meeting Place)

Starting at 9 AM, the Meeting Place will be occupied by various
organizations with environmental initiatives. They will be promoting their
programs and/or volunteer opportunities for students to get involved in.
Tons of information will be available at this event. 2nd Nature will also
have several setups including a David Suzuki Nature Challenge Sign Up and a
Battery Collection (i.e. those used for electronic equipment), not to
mention GAMES, ACTIVITIES, RAFFLES, and of course PRIZES!!!

REZ garbage display (Mon 1PM ? 5PM, Venue: Student Village Center)

Residence garbage from all three phases will be put on display
next to the Student Village Center. Everyone is invited to drop by and see
how much waste REZ students produce on average over a 4 day period.

GMO?S (Mon 1PM, Venue: Student Village Center)

Pat Venditti from Greenpeace will be giving a talk about what
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO?s) are and what people should know about
them. This will be followed by a discussion/coffee night in the early
evening (Time: TBA), which will be attended by UTSC?s principal Paul
Thompson.

Global Warming Panel (Tues 2PM, Venue: Student Village Center)

4 high profile guests will shed some more light on today?s hot
topic global climate change. 2 scientists, an environmentalist, and
politician/economist type will battle it out in an epic duel at the Student
Village Center. NO PRISONERS WILL BE TAKEN! You will not be guaranteed a
seat unless you RSVP ahead of time with 2nd Nature (2ndn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)

Litter Demonstration (Tues 9AM ? 4PM, Venue: TBA)

Litter collected on the campus grounds (outdoors) will be piled
up inside UTSC (Location: TBA) with several messages portraying a theme.
The point will be made abundantly clear: UTSC students are LAZY and need to
start taking more pride in their campus grounds.

Contrary to popular opinion, outdoor litter is NOT always cleaned up by
staff; in fact most of it is blown into nearby on-campus forests, degrading
their aesthetic appeal. Find out more about Waste Diversion
(http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/taskforce2010/index.htm)

Green Economics (Thurs 2PM, Venue: SW-309)

Can the business benefits of sustainability initiatives be
identified, quantified, and expressed in business language? Are there
bottom-line benefits relevant to the short- and long-term priorities of
senior executives? How can companies realistically "do well while doing
well" in the face of modern environmental concerns?
Author Bob Willard will examine the role of business and corporate social
responsibility.

Organic Food Dinner (Thurs 6PM, Venue: TBA)

Free organic food for a limited number of people. Everyone
thinks organic food is bland and hard to make, little do they know, come by
and check out the amazing food, FOR FREE FREE. RSVP with 2nd Nature!

ECOVISIONS Hart House 12-3 Thursday

EcoVisions is an event that embraces and celebrates the diversity of
students and student organizations at the University of Toronto. This event
will take place on Thursday, March 06, 2003 from 12 :00 to 3:00pm at Hart
House. EcoVisions will consist of a series of speakers discussing a variety
of cultural and religious perspectives about the earth. ENSU is currently
connecting with individuals and groups on campus to secure speakers who can
present on a variety of perspectives including Jewish, Christian, First
Nations, Chinese, Buddhist, African, and Muslim perspectives.

A major theme we wish to emphasize in this event is food and our connection
to nature through the foods we eat and their cultivation. Thus, we will
follow the presentations with a feast of foods from the cultures
represented. Additionally, partnering cultural, religious and environmental
student organizations will have the opportunity to display their materials.
