Hello Birding Friends,
I was just alerted to a survey from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission
about a proposal to allow Sunday hunting at many of the Gamelands across
the state, including Sandy Mush and Green River. The survey is quite
simple - maybe 5/6 questions and does not allow much in the way of
comments. One frustrating thing is that the question asking what
activities one participates in at the Gamelands does not even list
birding. I had to enter that under the "Other" category.
In my humble opinion, I am opposed to opening the gamelands to hunting on
Sundays, even though under the proposal hunting would still be prohibited
in the morning. I prefer to have one weekend day to bird the gamelands
without being worried about being mistaken for a deer - or a Bobwhite.
