Hey all,
We conducted the Henderson County Christmas Bird Count on December the 17th.
It has taken me a little bit to compile the data due to the holidays and a
recent surgery, but I sat down today to do just that!
Here is the rough data that I have compiled so far:
24 people participated
47 Hours on Foot42.51 Miles walked6.5 hours spent feeder watching1 hour spent
nocturnal birding174.95 Miles driven10.4 hours by car
87 species were observed.
Half hearty species did well with Catbird(2), House Wren(3), Palm Warbler(8),
and Virginia Rail(1) all being represented.
Numbers were low on ducks, but with the warmth of the season so far this
doesn't surprise me too much.
I want to thank all that participated in the count. It was a fun day!
I will have comparisons to previous years at a later date, but this is right on
average for the total amount of species per year.
