Objet : [els-eurobotics] Position paper: Ethical, Legal and Socio-economic
issues in robotics
Dear ELS topics group members,
we now have 1 month to the European Robotics Forum in Edinburgh and that will
be an event where our issues take centre stage. There are 7 workshops on our
issues, the European Parliament and the Commission are working on our issues,
we are in the press, …
So, in this situation euRobotics has asked that we, as a topics group, take a
stance, state our position on the major issues, show what we can contribute.
This is a bit of a challenge, of course, but we have to take it up. We now have
a group of experts, we have some material … we should be able to explain on a
page or so what the issues are!
So, my plan is to *jointly* write:
"Position paper:
Ethical, Legal and Socio-economic issues in robotics
Authors: The members of the euRobotics topics group on ‘ethical, legal and
socio-economic issues’ http://www.pt-ai.org/TG-ELS/
This statement is meant to summarise very briefly how leading European experts
in the field see the main issues and what their analysis and response is - on
one page each for ethical, legal and socio-economic matters. It is meant as a
starting point for further discussion in academic, industrial and policy
circles. - Version 1 is presented at the European Robotics Forum 2017:

You can and should edit this document. For your expertise (ethical, legal or
socio-economic), go to the relevant section and explain
issues+analysis+response. Be brief and clear. You can also add comments. And
there is a ‘chat’ function on the page.
We will present the result at the ERF, so we have 1 month. That’s more than
enough!

P.S.: If someone is willing to take a ‘lead’ on one section (as I have
effectively done for ethics), please note that in the doc. We might need to
change the writing system when we get closer to a finished document.
