3rd International Workshop on
Higher Education Learning Methodologies and Technologies Online
HELMeTO 2021

HELMeTO 2021 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working
in Higher Distance Education Institutions or studying Online Learning
Methodologies to present and share their research in a multidisciplinary
context. The workshop is focused on all the relevant topics for online
higher education and provides a forum for the discussion of new research
directions and applications in these fields, where different disciplines
could effectively meet.
The workshop will be organized by the Department of Information Engineering
of the University of Pisa and held at Centro Congressi “Le Benedettine”, on
September 9-10, 2021.

**** TOPICS ****
The workshop will include parallel sessions organized in two main tracks:
-
GT1: Online pedagogy and learning methodologies
-
GT2: Learning technologies, data analytics and educational big data
mining as well as their applications
Additionally, as the Covid-19 pandemic has heavily impacted the world of
higher education, a general track (GT3) "Facing COVID19 Emergency in Higher
Education Teaching" will be also arranged together with seven special
tracks, as listed below:

ST1: Digital skills in e-learning and continuous online training
-
ST2: E-learning and disciplinary teaching: issues and innovations in
contemporary higher education
-
ST3: Faculty Development, Distance Education and online learning systems
in higher education
-
ST4: From an emergency DaD to new forms of blended learning via
effectful methodologies to design, deliver and evaluate learning
-
ST5: Globalisation of e-learning: Key considerations to successful
delivery
-
ST6: Intelligent Analytics for Process-aware Higher Education (INSPIRE)
-
ST7: Student’s perception of online learning, teaching, and assessment
in higher education

**** SUBMISSIONS: extended abstracts ****
All submissions must be made electronically by March 31, 2021 through the
online submission system EasyChair.
Contributions MUST be in English and should be submitted in the form of an
abstract with references (max 4 pages).
Please remember to select exactly one track (general or special) during
the submission process on the EasyChair platform.
The authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to present their work at
the Workshop. The accepted abstracts will be available in a digital book of
abstracts of the Workshop. Each accepted abstract must have at least one
registered author by June 10, 2021.
The authors of the accepted contributions will be invited to submit an
extended version of their work in the form of a final full paper (at least
12 pages comprising references). Full papers will undergo a second round of
reviews. Accepted full papers, whose authors will have attended the
workshop (at least one author), will be included, free of charge, in the
workshop post-proceedings, published in Springer Communications in Computer
and Information Science (CCIS) series <https://www.springer.com/series/7899>,
indexed in Scopus <https://www.scopus.com/> and other important indexing
databases.

**** HELMeTO 2021 AWARD ****
A Scientific Committee will award one contribution relating to the
methodological area and one for the technological area. The "Prize" is
reserved for extended abstracts accepted at the HELMeTO 2021 conference.
All accepted contributions are automatically candidated for the prize.
