Lesson ideas for English 7
Database: Students are required by the state to read at least 25 books per
year. Students could be required to create a database that lists titles,
authors, genres, # of pages, opinions, etc.of each book they read. This
couldbe kept up through out the school year and be assessed as an end of
yearproject. It could then also be complied as a great reference for kids
that are choosing books. Spreadsheet: Students do research on different
authors through out the school year. They could put together a spread sheet
containing information about each author recording the date of birth and
death of each author. The spreadsheet would then calculate the age of death
for each author entered. This could also be correlated with a history lesson
on the different time periods the authors lived in and the average life
expectancy at that time.
