Hello,
My district, I’m sure like many others is being flooded with referrals for
initial evaluations from screenings, EI, and especially late referrals from EI.
We are finding it difficult to meet our deadlines and get all of our
evaluations completed.
Currently we have two diagnostic teams. Each complete 2 play based initial
evaluations per week and have a two week turnaround. Our coordinator is trying
to figure out how to complete these more efficiently or do more of them without
adding FTE.
I’m wondering if anyone was evaluating somehow without a 1-2 hour play based
assessment.
For example, taking the IFSP and transferring it to an IEP, Placing the child
in a classroom and writing the IEP through a classroom evaluation, or
scheduling to allow a quicker turnaround? Any ideas are welcome.
