*Great offer from Eve and Ben at January Films!* First come first served.
“We’re an independent film production company specialising in creating
content for companies that resonate with us.
With the Arts sector having such a tough time at the moment we wanted to
make a couple of free films for small Sheffield based arts companies.
Hopefully this small gesture could give them some exposure to help them
get back on track.
We would like to make a video that they could use as marketing on social
media and therefore it would be between a minute and 2 minutes in
length. The first 2 people responding by email will receive the video.
We have made a couple of films recently for small companies and here is
the link for examples of our work”: https://vimeo.com/januaryfilms

*Crowd funding for Sheffield Music Venues at risk: Dryad Works and Plot 22*
*__*
*_Dryad Works_*
*Amount needed - £39,768*

"Dryad Works - Sheffields home for collaboration through Music, Art &
Culture. Without assistance we are set to close our doors for good and
lose our home. But, it’s not just our home, it’s the home of many
creatives who rely on its survival to keep their livelihoods secure. Our
DIY ethos has meant we have rarely asked for help before but this is
serious. The situation is critical. The timing is imminent. We form a
self built community of creative individuals who work together to bring
an authentic underground DIY venue experience to Sheffield. Since
opening in 2018 we have had the privilege of hosting countless numbers
of internationally recognised artists and have successfully provided a
safe night time space for thousands of guests. We offer creative
workspace and development opportunities to over 15 independent sound
systems, artists, designers and creative individuals including some of
the oldest and most respected names in the Sheffield creative industry.
We have done all this in just 24 months and now we are in a situation
that forces us to seek help."

"What's at risk with Plot 22 is much more than just a music venue. Plot
22 is a veritable creative hub that houses studio space for over 10
independent creative artists. It also provides a safe creative space
that exists to support many others through ongoing workshops, projects
and support sessions for young people and vulnerable adults in
Sheffield. Despite losing tens of thousands in lost trade, throughout
the lockdown period we've continued to be an invaluable source of
support for artists in the underground community and beneficiaries we
have met through outreach projects. We've lent out equipment so artists
can continue to work from home, we've hosted livestream gigs and
festivals, we've supported over 50 young people with creative activities
and we're currently supporting vulnerable adults in recovery with free
music and sound therapy sessions. Our venue has been shut for well over
2 years now; having been forced to shut well before covid due to noise
complaints, we worked hard to redevelop the space and very nearly
relaunched the venue to the public in March this year. The impact of
covid and lockdown on lost revenue through the venue was emphasised as
we'd been shut for about 18 months before the pandemic hit. We were
relying on the bounce back trade in 2020 to take the business forward
and due to the ongoing restrictions to the events industry, we're now at
risk of losing the venue and the space that supports so many people in
the community in so many different ways."

*Application for Business Support Grants – now live*
**
The Council has now launched
<https://sheffnews.com/news/application-for-business-support-grants-now-live>
the Business Support Grants scheme for those businesses that have been
forced to close because of the new lockdown restrictions and pay
business rates. The application form for the new grants is available on
the SCC website here
<https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/home/your-city-council/coronavirus-hub/support-for-business/lockdown-business-support-grant>.
Businesses who are forced to close but are not registered with business
rates and businesses who remain open but affected by Covid-19 are not
eligible to use this scheme because of the rules that the Government has
set. We are working on a scheme to support the wider business base and
we are looking to make an announcement on this in the very near future
*Businesses may be eligible for a grant if the business:***
* is registered for business rates, and
* was trading as usual but has been forced to close
*Businesses can apply if they are closed because of:***
* local Tier 3 'very high' restrictions on 23 October 2020
* or new national restrictions introduced on 5 November 2020
A business can apply if they were forced to close on 23 October 2020
under Tier 3 local restrictions. *The following types of business are
eligible:*
* pubs, bars and licensed premises (who do not serve substantial meals)
* casinos
* betting shops
* adult gaming centres
* soft play centres
A business can apply if they were forced to close on 5 November 2020
under national lockdown restrictions. *The following types of business
are eligible*:
* non-essential retail
* hospitality
* leisure
The Lockdown Business Support Grant helps businesses that have been
required to close due to new national lockdown restrictions by providing
grants of £1334, £2000 or £3000 every four weeks whilst the restrictions
are in place. The amount you receive depends on the rateable value (RV)
of the property and the length of time the business remains closed.
Unlike previously, properties with a rateable value of more than £51,000
may apply.
