On 30 November 2016, we held the second ‘Patient Participations Groups
across Sheffield’ meeting. We are now pleased to share with you a report of
the meeting which can be found here.

The topics that were discussed were Transforming Primary Care and
Prescribing. All the presentations, along with the report, are available to
support PPGs to have discussions around these areas, if they should wish to
do so.

We are already looking forward to our next ‘PPGs across Sheffield’ meeting,
which has been scheduled for:

*Thursday 16 March 20176 - 8pm@ The Circle, 33 Rockingham Lane, Sheffield.

Following feedback from PPG members, we have set up a dedicated resource
section on our website. This page hosts templates and good examples of
documents that patient groups may find useful, as well as reports and
presentations from our previous 'PPGs across Sheffield' meetings.

We hope that this section will become a valuable resource for PPGs to share
best practice and support each other. We would also welcome any suggestions
of what other things that PPG members would like to see on there.

*Deadline extended!Have your say by Tuesday 14 February*

People living in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Rotherham
and Sheffield are being given more time to share their thoughts on
proposals to change our region’s hyper acute stroke services, as well as
some children’s surgery and anaesthesia services.

The proposals, incorporating public feedback, have been developed by
Commissioners Working Together, a partnership of the region’s NHS clinical
commissioning groups and NHS England to improve services across South and
Mid Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire - with the consultation being
extended until Tuesday 14 February 2017.

Depending on where people live, some patients have better experiences and
access to services than others and have come together to change it. If
approved, the proposals would see some services no longer being carried out
at Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield Hospitals, with others becoming
specialist centres for the whole region.

Until Tuesday 14 February 2017, members of the public are invited to share
their views on the proposed option for the future of these services – with
a final decision expected to be made by clinical commissioners in April.

Have your say on children’s surgery and critical stroke care here.

If you don’t have much time, you can complete quick polls about the
consultations:

to the first 72 hours after having a stroke

You may remember the short article in September 2016’s newsletter around
the ‘Neighbourhoods’ programme of work. Since then a lot of progress has
been made and momentum continues to grow.

There are now 16 defined Neighbourhoods within Sheffield City and each
Neighbourhood is working on tackling health and social care priorities
within its area. The work, which is led by GP Practices, will involve all
key stakeholders across Sheffield as well as making sure that the
Voluntary, Care and Faith sector play an important part in improving the
quality of health and social care outcomes.

If you’d like to learn more about this important programme of work, and see
which Neighbourhood your GP Practice belongs to, please visit the web links
below.

Our vision is to work together to reduce the risk of people developing
cancer, quickly diagnose and treat those who do, and develop services based
around the whole person, not just their cancer.

We will support people to be healthy, get the best and most appropriate
treatment, stay healthy and pain free after recovery, and when needed, die
with dignity; giving support to family members and carers.

To achieve our vision, we will work as a single team, with one budget,
putting the person at the heart of what we do so they live well with and
beyond cancer.

*Next steps*

To help us achieve our ambitions, over the coming months we will ensure
everyone is given an opportunity to see and understand our plan so they can
share their views, knowledge and experiences to help shape our work and the
way we deliver cancer care in the future.

For full details of our plan and to have your say, please go to
