[duxuser] setting up Index embosser

Hoping someone can help. I’m just setting up a new Index Basic D V4 embosser
with Windows 8.1 and DBT 11.1.
I can get it to emboss some braille from the included IBPrint program.
Just to get up and running, I’m starting with a direct connection using the
provided USB cable. I’m trying to now set it up with DBT. I can’t get anything
to work. I have chosen a new braille device, and chosen Basic D. In the setup,
I tried choosing Version 4 and unspecified, but nowhere does it give me the
option of USB ports.
Ideally, I want to connect through our home network. Right now the embosser is
plugged into our router, but I can’t seem to add it anywhere from my PC as a
new printer.
Any help in setting up with both these connection methods would be very
helpful.
Also, I’m getting the idea that in loading the paper, there is always a wasted
first page. Is there any way to prevent this?
