I have to edit documents line by line and while arrowing, I am finding
these blank areas. Yes, insert-escape works sort of but you have to do
it a lot and even that seems to throw jaws out of focus.

When this happens on a web page, try hitting control n. This will put
you
into a new browser window and sometimes the missing text is back again.

So far my experimentation with DBT and JFW 4.5 hasn't revealed this
problem
of inaccurate reading, but the matter of JFW losing focus in word
processors and text editors is not new. I had a very bad time of it in
4.02 with NoteTab and to a leser degree with Word. I haven't spent a
lot
of time with 4.5 yet to see if it has improved. Hitting Insert-Escape
gives temporary relief when it does happen.
