Actually, if you have a computer and a braille display, you can read .brf files
by opening them in a word processor and turning off braille translation on your
display. The speech from your screen reader will be garbage, so turn that down,
but the text will read fine on a braille display. Braille notetakers will also
read .brf files of course.

Morning,
Thanks to everyone for responding to my question. I didn’t think one needed
Duxbury to read brf files, but thought I double check.
I’ll let my acquaintance know.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

If you are eligible for National Library Services with the Library of Congress,
your cooperating State Library you can download both audio and Braille books.
The NLS BARD books are *.brf. You can read on Braille display.

Hi,
An acquaintance of mine has a braille display, but doesn’t know braille well.
Can she download braille books in brf, say from NLS, without having Duxbury? If
so, how does it work?
