Hi Gary,
Correct, so you use "Generic - Text Only" drivers for the older Index
embossers.

That sounds like a pretty old machine. I'm not entirely sure there are
drivers available for windows 10/11 for version two embossers from the index
range. I recently tried to get a version three Everest up and running and it
wasn't possible because there are lack of drivers.

To help you I would need more information on the model of the embosser.
Are you using the Index Basic D4 or the D5?
We'll start there.

Still on this subject, but I think this might need an engineer, I started
embossing a document earlier this evening, and got a load of vertical broken
lines.
Please tell me I have set it up wrong.
Thanks,
David.

Hi David, all,
I think that DBT has a template for A4 if you go to document \ embosser
settings. I know the advice and wisdom is that DBT overrides the embosser
settings, but I had an Index-D V3 and nobody but nobody could get it to
emboss 27, rather than 26, lines per page. My later V5 works just fine and I
have never fiddled with the pagination settings.
Good luck!
James

Subject: [duxuser] Using DBT with Index Basic D embosser
Hello,
I'm new to this list, and by no means could be called a professional
transcriber. However, I've a strong technical background, and for personal
use, I need to use DBT in conjunction with a Basic D embosser.
Firstly, which takes priority, the embosser or DBT.
Secondly, I am using A4 paper (this is a UK size), how should I set both up
so that they play nicely together.
I hope these questions are relevant to the list. If not, I apologize.
Many thanks for any assistance,
David.
