If you are used to entering Unicode characters in Word, you can also copy and
paste directly from Word into DBT. If you have the translation line on, you can
see quickly if it will translate correctly.
The list of characters supported by DBT is always increasing with each update,
and I have found very few which do not translate correctly.
You may also be interested in a document produced by UKAAF (UK Association for
Accessible Formats), the UK equivalent of BANA. It can be found under
Braille/Guidance and is called Math AutoCorrect which gives guidance on how to
use the Word AutoCorrect function to enter many mathematical symbols as well as
their UEB equivalent output in DBT.
This is a really good reference.
All that said, the best way to find out which symbols translate and which do
not, is to try them for yourself and keep a list.

You will find Unicode listings in Help: Miscellaneous: Comprehensive List of
Characters.
These are in Unicode Groups in Unicode Sequence.
You will find that the tables contain a DUSCI column to the right of the
Unicode column. Hence for example U+221E would show D+F04E.
To enter this into DBT’s pre-translated file, you would press Alt plus right
square bracket, enter F04E, and click OK.
Bear in mind that not all characters are recognized in Braille, an so you may
have to resort to a transcriber’s note and essentially invent a braille sign.

I might be getting this wrong as I'm still a novice here, but there are a list
of Unicode characters that are not compatible with Duxbury, they are listed in
the help file.
I use some Unicode characters in Word and they carry over successfully but
obviously not the ones that are not supported.
