RE: [duxuser] UEB questionHi Warren,

Thanks for the prompt answer. Can I ask how you got the braille to show up in
the body of the email?

Cheers,

nadine.

  Nadine,

To make it work in the current version of DBT you'd can do something like
this:

She read Jane Eyre--a book considered to be
a classic.
  which would give you
  ,%e r1d .1,jane .1,eyre--.'a book 3sid]$ to 2 a classic4

I asked Phyllis Landon (who is not on this list) to answer your question
about UEB. Here is her reply.

  Warren

You have the UEB rules correct, Nadine. With two words in italics, you would
use an italic word indicator before each word. The passage indicator would be
used for three or more words. And yes, the effect of the italic word indicator
before the second word does carry over the dash. Unless the dash is followed
by a space, you would need to insert an italic terminator to prevent the word
following the dash from being read as italicized.

  Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what the UEB rule is for when you have two italicised
words followed by a dash. My understanding is that italics crosses the dash,
and Duxbury 10.6 treats this situation as if the two italicised words were a
passage, which I thought was three words or more. I hope this is amking
  sense.

Cheers and thanks for any help,

  Nadine.
