   I can answer this one! I've been doing an interoffice phone directory for
a receptionist for several years now. She prefers them single-sided, and
says that it's much easier for her to find numbers quickly while on the
phone that way. 
    I also have a friend who's just learning braille, and she finds
double-sided very confusing for now. 
    Then there's the second-grader who's just learning to read...

I can't imagine why anyone would not want to use 2 sided 
Braille.
