You don't have to use SWIFT, this will work just as well if opening a Word file
manually in DBT.

I have never used MathType for chemistry, probably as I can easily get correct
braille without.
We utilise the feature where DBT codes can be embedded into Word using the
[[*code*]] syntax.
When typing chemistry, rather than "seeing if DBT is correct", we automatically
add the code between adjoining capital letters.
You can utilise the autotext feature of Word and set up an autotext entry. We
call ours \xcs to insert [[*xcs*]]. We have also created in Word a character
style we call "DBT code" which is applied to any embedded DBT codes (forming
part of the autotext entry). We also add a colour to the style to make the
codes easy to see, plus they can easily be removed using a global cut and paste.
Some people recommend making the style hidden text, you have to remember make
hidden text visible to see where the codes have been added.

Have recently posted an issue in Chemistry which was solved with the Cap Brk
command [xcs] code between the O and H of NaOH
Now this works whether typing the notation directly in word or using MathType
(6.9d). But Duxbury (12.2 SR1) - if transcribing as text created directly in
Word it transcribes correctly. But if MathType is used it adds the Grade 1
indicators which in this instance are not needed.
Where I am coming from with this is that it would be useful to get myself and
others into the habit of using MathType without having to remember "You can't
put that chemistry notation in MathType because it will transcribe incorrectly."
