Let's not forget the Amish!!!! I was amazed at their horses' tieing
prowess!!! When we went to look at the brother-in-law's carriages,
exquisite by the way, (and yes, the journey there with the pair was
rather exciting, WOO HOO!!), he just put this very long lead rope on
them that first looped around the neck and snapped into a ring (neck
rope), then the next snap snapped into the snaffle ring on the bit,
THEN the rope was tied to the hitching post=2E The horses stood there
like champions!!! Yes, one of them is now mine =2E=2E=2E=2E the one that=

kept the other one from taking us "off road" at the charging dog and
the scary modern equipment! He is still that way, and is my Steady
Eddie=2E=2E=2E=2E=2E=2E=2Enow if I could just heal from a serious fall of=
f a horse
~2 1/2 weeks ago, I would be driving, and riding=2E=2E=2E=2E=2E=2Esigh=2E=
=2E=2E=2E=2E=2E=2Eand
I had just heeled from my daughter's cow having kicked the daylights
out of my knee!!! ARGH!!! =20

My Morgans remain at my trainer's, where I know they are getting
fantastic training=2E=2E=2E=2E=2Ebasically having started them from scrat=
ch
again, to get them to be little dressage animals=2E=2E=2E=2Ethe balance i=
s SO
much better, as is their confidence level in their work=2E=2E=2E=2Ethey h=
ave
developed a great working relationship with my trainer, which was
really hard for the older one, but now he just loves people and
seeking the answers to the questions that she puts to them as they
work!!!

Carriages=2E=2E=2E=2Ein the Driving Essentials catalog, the cob size Cobr=
a of
the blue and yellow coloring, is mine=2E It is a ~600# vehicle for my
young pair, and I can always add more weight to it=2E My Morgans are
~15hh and 15=2E2hh=2E I didn't want an FEI weight carriage on my
youngsters, but heavy enough to be safe=2E We have been working on
issues associated with them having started driving hooked to very
heavy carriages, so this is so much better=2E When we get to the point
that the weight is an issue, then I can go with the FEI weight
vehicle=2E=20

One of the things we tweaked on our carriage was to close in the
front dash a bit, as you can see in the photo=2E=2E=2E=2Eso that if anyon=
e
kicked high enough to get a foot in that vicinity, it wouldn't get
caught/trapped in the slot=2E Yes, I had one of them do that one day
as a single, and I had this foot sitting on my dash just stuck
there!!! He quietly hopped to a stop, my navigator for that day just
jumped off and headed him, then I figured out that if I fanned him in
the direction OPPOSITE of the foot caught, that the curved dash would
just allow his foot to slide right off and place it back under his
body, without the chance of getting his foot caught over the trace=2E=20
Worked like a charm!!! NEVER do I want THAT to repeat itself=2E=2E=2E=2E=
