Happy New Year! Also, I hope everyone had a good Christmas.
Ours was peaceful. We didn't go anywhere or do anything and
had no guests in our home but nevertheless enjoyed it. We
haven't decided whether or not we want to stay up late and
ring in the New Year. Midnight is pretty late for a fuddy
duddy. :)

I've been an avid reader since I was around ten years old
but have never been able to afford new books. I bought books
at used book stores, garage sales and flea markets and still
didn't have an unread book in the house as often as not,
until the era of electronic books (e-books). That changed
everything. I bought an RCA Voyager, seven inch, Android
tablet for less than $50, downloaded the most popular ebook
apps and found plenty of free books on Kindle, Nook and Kobo
but the real jackpot was Project Gutenberg, where I was able
to download over 1,200 free books. Granted, I've bought a
few new books, usually for 99 cents and mainly from Kobo,
but I now quite literally own more books than I'll be able
to read in my lifetime and spend less on books in a year
than I used to spend in a month. Of course you don't have
to purchase a tablet, you can read ebooks on your computer
or even on your phone. FBReader, for example, will be in the
Google Play Store for your Android phone or you can get it

I was missing Texas today because it's so cold in New Mexico
until I checked the weather app on my phone. Right now it's
the same temperature in Tow (rhymes with cow), Texas as it
is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 36° (F) but with the wind
chill, it feels like 30° in Albuquerque and 27° in Tow.
That's all it took to stop missing Texas. :)
