First word, from Don:

Mozilla is asking for folks to share their web
savvy for the benefit of non technical users.
https://www.drumbeat.org/node/101533/about
I think there may be a couple of areas where I
can make meaningful contributions so I plan to try.

I make a few dollars a year doing online surveys on this site.
http://globaltestmarket.com/
But I'm rarely permitted to actually finish a survey. I get
screened out regularly and the reasons are a little humorous
when you get down to it. I'm screened out because I don't
drink, smoke, have kids living at home, don't have (or want)
a credit card, don't have (or want) a smartphone, cellphone,
ipod, blackberry, cable TV, Satellite TV, TV antenna or digital
TV set, don't buy, rent or download movies, don't go to
movie theaters, don't consume soft drinks, energy drinks,
dietary supplemental drinks or flavored water (diet or
otherwise), don't purchase any sort of prepackaged foods,
don't eat fast foods, and don't own (or ever intend to
purchase) a new car.

It's funny how much stuff you don't need to have a rich,
happy, healthy, productive and downright fun lifestyle.

See you next time.

A Little Humor.

These are puns, referred to as Tom Swifties:

'I can't believe I ate that whole pineapple!'
Tom said, Dolefully.

'That's the last time I'll ever pet a lion,'
Tom said, offhandedly.

'I'll never sleep on the railroad tracks again!'
Tom said, beside himself.

'That's the third electric shock I've gotten this week!'
Tom said, revolted.

'I'm never anywhere on time,' Tom related.

'I won't let a flat tire get me down,'
Tom said, without despair.

'That car you sold me has defective steering!'
Tom said, straightforwardly.

'I've been on a diet,' Tom expounded.

'I'll have to send that telegram again,'
Tom said, remorsefully.

'I keep banging my head on things,'
Tom said, bashfully.

'Look at that jailbird climb down that wall,'
Tom observed with condescension.

'I remember the mid-west being flatter than this,'
Tom explained.

'That's the third time my teacher changed my grade,'
Tom remarked.

'I'll have to dig another ditch around that castle,'
Tom sighed, remotely.

'I've lived through a lot of windstorms,' Tom regaled.

'I haven't caught a fish all day!' Tom said, without debate.

'That mink coat is on wrong side out,' Tom inferred.

---

Consider the case of the Illinois man who left the
snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida.
His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet
him there the next day. When he reached his hotel, he
decided to send his wife a quick email. Unable to find
the scrap of paper on which he had written her email
address, he did his best to type it from memory.
Unfortunately, he missed one letter, and his note was
directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose
husband had passed away only the day before. When the
grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at
the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the
floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed
into the room and saw this note on the screen: 'Dearest
wife, Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your
arrival tomorrow. Signed, Your eternally loving husband.
PS. Sure is hot down here.'

---

I figured that was enough humor for one issue until I
read this one and thought; 'This could be me and Lisa!'

An elderly husband and wife were having difficulty
remembering things, so they decided to go to their
doctor for help. They explained the difficulty to
the doctor, and after a complete examination, the
doctor reported that they were physically fine.
The doctor suggested that they start writing things
down and make notes to help them remember things.
The couple thanked the doctor and left.

Later that night while watching TV, the man got up
from his chair and his wife asked, 'Where are you
going?' He replied, 'To the kitchen. Would you
like something?'

'Yes,' She responded, 'Will you get me a bowl of
ice cream?'

'Sure.' he said.

She then asked, 'Don't you think you should write
it down so you can remember it?'

He replied, 'No, I can remember that.'

She then said, 'Well I also would like some
strawberries on top. You had better write that
down cause I know you'll forget that.'

He retorted, 'I can remember that. You want a
bowl of ice cream with strawberries.'

She replied, 'Well I also would like whipped cream
on top. I know you will forget that so you better
write it down.'

With irritation in his voice, he said, 'I don't
need to write that down I can remember that.'
He then stomped moodily off to the kitchen.
After about 20 minutes he returned from the
kitchen and gave her a plate of bacon & eggs.

She stared at the plate for a moment and complained,
'You forgot my toast.'

Last word, from Lisa:

Having plenty of housecleaning work has its
up and down sides. The work is the least
stressful I've ever done, I work alone, my
clients appreciate the job I do, the pay
is good and I'm my own boss. On the
other hand, it's hard work so I can't
overbook or other areas of my life suffer.
All in all it's a great way to live, and
I love it. How many people can say that?

Wishing you the best of luck and love,

Lisa

The most important people on the Internet, for you and
I as computer users, are software developers. The world's
coolest computer, without software, is like a car without
fuel. It might look great, but what can it do?
It doesn't matter who produces the software you love
and use regularly, the developers of that software
need and deserve your support.

A bit of advice from Internet veteran Bayard J. Fox:

New computer users are often in awe of the things you can
get without cost on the Internet. There can be hidden
