bzip2 has better compression than gzip but is a little bit slower than

do you think? Do you need bzip2?
I'm new to this group and somewhat new to dokuwiki, but have a lot of experience with other wikis especially TWiki and LAMP CMS in general. I'm playing with dokuwiki on dreamhost hosted service, a unixshell VPS, and a WinSystems SBC EBC-C3, as well as playing syncing with my laptop and storing on USB device.

My 2c is that both have advantages and disadvantages depending on how dokuwiki is deployed. If you have your dokuwiki on a VPS or an embedded device with very limited memory, gzip might be desirable since bzip2 also needs more memory, so you might end up hitting swap and get even worse performance. If you keep a backup of your dokuwiki on a flash drive, or want to sync across the internet, bzip2 might be desirable since it would take up less space and be less data to transfer.

Overall, it might not make that much difference unless you have a very large wiki, or one with a very long history.
PS: yes I'm back from vacation and WikiSym. If you're interested about
