It isn't "safe" if you're using (among other things) plugins which use
sqlite databases as these are usually store in the data/meta
directory.
Sorry, I should have made it clear I was talking about a development
environment for a plugin - i.e. basic data and no other plugins.
Deleting the files did exactly what I needed :-)
