At times I have to use IE 6 at work as well.  I looked at both of the
issues below in IE 6 and FF 1.0.4; I used

It is true that the search field is slightly taller than the buttons,
but it doesn't look particularly bad and should not be considered a
problem IMHO (I just compared IE 6 and FF 1.0.4)

This is an issue; if most of your users do use IE 6 I can see this being
problematic (personally I don't care).  I suppose one solution would be
to create .png that do not have an alpha channel or (shudder) use .gif.
