I agree. It would be inconsistent, to have some links detected, and some not.
However, there is a definite bug in the windows share links detection,
which has been mentioned above in this thread. I mean, only the
"\\Server\DirA" part in a link like "\\Server\DirA\DirB\DirC"
currently gets marked as a hyperlink.
