=20 From its inception in 1997, Morpheus has always been about musical f= reedom. We've never locked ourselves into any one genre or style. There has= never been a specific Morpheus sound. Morpheus in itself was a collaborati= on of sounds. There's nothing in this world more punk rock than that and th= e day we become locked down into a category is the day I put up and quit. I feel like I've been locked down lately. I feel like I've= forgotten what the most important parts of Morpheus were. Don't get me wro= ng, I'm really very excited about the new songs we've been working on and t= he next releases we're about to create. I just worry that we'll lock oursel= ves downsomeday to one specific sound. When Morpheus beg= an as a band, it was myself on guitar, Spanky on bass, and we shared vocal = duties. We had a number of drummers along the way, moreoften completely wi= thout one. My personal favorites before Rob were Wharg0ul and Ryan McCullou= gh, both thoroughly passionate and skilled drum-pounders. Back then, the co= re of the band wasn't even locked into position. When Rob came aboard, he w= asn't another drummer in the lineup, hewas right away the third core membe= r. Just like Spanky and myself, without Rob the band would be done. Even fo= r the first two years, the threeof us switched instruments constantly. We = still do now, on occasion, but we're more focussed on our own sounds. Contr= ary to how my writing is flowing right now, this isn't a bad thing. What I am so sporadically trying to say is that musical freedom = is the definition of Morpheus. We will never be locked down into one type o= f soundor one genre. We will always be changing and evolving. The day we s= topis the day it dies and the three of us move on. -- Posted by sku11fukkr to ...Come The Wolves[1]= at 4/3/2005 03:42:00 AM --- Links --- 1 3D"http://digita=
