The UK defence withdrawal debate is already on the website as
THE UK GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONSIDER A SEVERE DOWNSIZING OF ITS ARMED FORCES
Shall I change the debate to: Should the British military presence in
Afghanistan be terminated?
This question is not directly addressed on the website and is very topical due
to the news this morning of five UK soldiers being killed and Kim Howells
anouncement this morning?

Should the Queen abdicate?
Lets face it our Queen is getting on a bit. She is at an age when almost anyone
else would have retired. She now has two generations of potential sucessiors,
Prince William is even taking over some of her foreign visits. Is it time for
the Queen to abdicate?

Has the government been "inept" in its immigration policy?
Unusually the Home Secretary Alan Johnson has admitted the Labour’s policy on
immigration has been inept. They never understood the problem many of their
previously core supporters had with immigration and as with being extremely
relaxed about people getting filthy rich labour has been relatively relaxed
about immigration. In particular by not sorting out failures in the system
despite them being pointed out again and again.

Cameron had to take a U turn over a referendum on Europe.
Conservative leader David Cameron had very little choice but to make a U turn
over Europe. The treaty is well on the way to being ratified by all countries.
Britain would then look very silly holding a referendum on something that had
been decided and is very difficult to go back on. It is much less embarrassing
to make the U turn now before it became a campaign pledge in a general election.

Do Chelsea need to win the Champions league before they are viewed as one of
Europe's elite clubs?
Chelsea have for many years been one of England’s biggest clubs. They have been
among the richest even if Abramovich’s billions are not necessarily included
However Joe Cole says they need to win the champions league in order to be
considered one of Europe’s elite clubs. Why does an elite club have to have won
the Champions league, is not reaching the semis or the final on multiple
occasions enough to be termed elite?

Is the new Oxford Circus crossing a good idea?
Oxford Circus, probably the busiest crossing in Britain has been remodelled. It
has been redesigned based upon Japanese crossings in the Shibuya district of
central Tokyo. The designers say the diagonal crossing will allow pedestrians
to get to their destination faster thus reducing congestion. Is it a good idea
that should be copied at other busy junctions?

Dangerous dogs act, should it not be dangerous owners act?
Dogs, particularly certain breeds can be savage and vicious. However dogs are
trained by their owners, a dog that attacks someone can be put down as a danger
to the public but it is really the people who keep and fail to train, or train
for combat, such dogs that are the real danger.

Mount Kilimanjaro’s glaciers have been melting rapidly ever since it was first
measured in 1912, this has been particularly fast over the last decade. This is
seen by many as a dramatic example of climate change in action. Sceptics argue
climate change has nothing to do with it and other theories have been advanced

Is capitalism creating an expanding gap between the rich and the poor?
Communism has lost the conflict of ideologies. All that remains is capitalism,
and a failing capitalism at that. While the world is in recession the
investment banks take advantage to continue paying immense bonuses despite
having been bailed out only a few months earlier. When the pay of workers is
cut the top bosses receive ever more share options and perks. Capitalism leads
to an ever expanding gap between rich and poor.

Should Britain withdraw soldiers?
The debate about withdrawing soldiers from Afghanistan rages on, but what about
from elsewhere. Britain has its soldiers, airforce and naval warships all over
the world so why not withdraw them all. Our armed forces serve in the Middle
East, Central Asia, Africa and Europe. Some are not at all necessary, there
are for example still significant numbers in Germany.
