March is Women's History Month, so get ready to celebrate the over 350,000
women and girls living in the District with Mayor Bowser’s fourth annual
FITDC HerStory 5K!
Join us in downtown DC as we takeover Freedom Plaza with a *free* 5K
run/walk, live and in person from the most powerful city in the world.
Bring the whole family and enjoy a pre race warmup with remarks from
prominent female figures, a scenic route down Pennsylvania Ave, and a post
race finish festival with music, food, and vendors from local women-owned
businesses.
*How Do I Sign Up? *
Signing up has never been easier! Just click the button below, choose a
location for shirt/bib pick up and we'll see you at the Start Line!
PRO TIP: Skip the lines on race day and pick up your gear beforehand at one
of our four pickup locations on the Wednesday, March 16 and Thursday, March
17.
*Shirts and timed race bibs will be distributed on a first come, first
serve basis while supplies last. Signing up does not guarantee you a shirt
or bib, so make plans to utilize early pickup. *
*How Do I Get There on Race Day?*Freedom Plaza is located at 1455
Pennsylvania Avenue NW, just a two block walk from the Metro Center metro
stop *(Blue, Red, Silver and Orange Lines)* and 5 blocks from the Gallery
Place/Chinatown metro stop *(Red Yellow, and Green Lines).*
We strongly suggest that you take public transportation or a ride share to
this event, as parking is VERY LIMITED and streets will be shut down.
*What Should I Expect When I Arrive?*
When you arrive, get started with a group led warmup, a live DJ, remarks
from our special guest emcee and other women dignitaries, and then run or
walk at your own pace and enjoy the view! Be sure to invite friends and
family to participate or to come and cheer you on.
Don't forget to take pics and selfies and tag each one with #HerStory5K to
connect with fellow participants.
After the walk/run, check out the post race party with free coffee and
snacks, more music, and exhibits from The National Women's History Museum
and The Mayor's Office of Woman's Policies and Initiatives (MOWPI).
